WORKOUTS: My Go-To

Written by Alexia • May 2021 • 5 min read
Each and every one of our bodies crave different types of movement. We are each unique, so it’s important not to compare yourself to someone else’s workout routine. Social media has the affect of making us feel like our workouts aren’t enough. We see what someone else’s workout routine is and feel like what we’re doing isn’t enough.

I recently started doing workouts that my body craved- intuitive movement.  I used to feel like I had to do intense long workouts 5x per week to see results. I would push myself even when my body felt like it couldn’t. By doing this, I was only spiking my cortisol levels and stressing my body out. My body was exhausted, my periods weren’t regular and I was stuck in this vicious cycle.

Recently, I did more research on working out and the woman’s body. It was brought to my attention that the type of workout your body craves at a given time, all goes with where you are in your cycle. That’s when I noticed that I sometimes would want to do a lower impact workout, sometimes something more intense, which was all for a reason and that was okay.

I have different workouts that I do when I crave them. Because if this, I constantly need to switch up the platforms I use.

Lately I’ve been loving:

Gabi’s fitness

@gabigarbarino

Full body

40-50 minutes

You feel sore, sweaty & doesn’t feel like you’ve given all your energy once you’re finished.

Stacy Lel fitness

@stacylelfitness

10-60 minutes

Barre on crack. The burn is real

Many options: no equipment, only bands, lower intensity, higher intensity

FITFOMO

@fitfomo

Express to longer workouts

So much variety: HIIT, barre, kickboxing, spinning, sculpting, and meditations.

C25K app

@officialc25k

Couch to 5K

App that gives you running prompts to improve stamina, by increasing your jogging intervals and lowering walking intervals. Very encouraging.

I love giving my body what it wants. I see major change in my stress levels, my hormones have regulated and my body is much more at peace.

Do what feels good for YOU, not what looks good on somebody else.
