LASH HEALTH: What You Need To Know

We have all heard of those awful horror stories of girls getting their lashes damaged or maybe it even happened to you (happened to me- way back). One of the reasons I got into lashing was because I was devastated when my lashes were damaged. So now I pride myself in making sure I am providing nothing but quality lash work that won't damage your natural lashes.

I do this by:

1- Isolation.

I make sure each lash I place is placed 1:1. That's one extension to one natural lash. With volume, that’s one fan to one natural lash. If the extension is stuck on multiple natural lashes, as they grow they will pull the other natural lashes with it, which will form scar tissue that doesn’t allow the natural lash to grow back.

2- Adhesive control.

I use the proper amount of adhesive. Enough that is not weighing down your natural lashes (I see too much glue being used very often) or not-not enough that doesn’t allow the extension to stay adhered on.

3- Length control.

I don't use lengths that are too overloading for your natural lash. They shouldn’t be longer than 2-3mm of your natural lashes. Although, length can be adjusted if a thinner diameter is used (discussed at the time of your appointment).

4- Weight control.

I don't select thicknesses that are too overloading for your natural lash. I always analyze the natural lashes before deciding what thickness to use. Lash artists should be able to tell what weight they should be using to keep your natural lashes strong and healthy.

5- Quality adhesive.

I am using higher grade adhesives. Low grade adhesives contain ingredients that are highly toxic, promotes allergies, cause damage to the dermal papilla (blood vessels that nourish and provide nutrients to the hair follicle).

I am a believer in investing in ongoing education. Each course I have taken has taught me different rules in maintaining proper lash health.

I have clients that started with me from day one, never took a break, and their natural lashes are looking STRONG.

So to answer your question, LASH EXTENSIONS DO NOT DAMAGE YOUR NATURAL LASHES (if the artist knows what they’re doing, of course).
