Since I was a kid, beauty as always peaked my interest. I’d tell my mom that I wanted to become a makeup artist. And as I got older, and I would get my makeup done, I would always ask my makeup artist a million questions because it was such a cool profession to me.
As I got older, I was going to school like every other kid, and for me it was a social fun time. I was never really interested in anything. I hated history (failed it 2x), science, French and English class was also terribly boring for me. I needed something different—I just didn’t know what yet.
I graduated high school, went to college in social science (general studies) in hopes of being guided towards my passion. But I quickly realized that that program was an extension of high school. It just confused me even more and at that point I was getting older, so I started feeling the pressure.
I decided to stop school, work full time at a hospital doing admin work, in hopes of finding what I wanted to do that way. Working at a hospital was tough. Those around me thought it was a great step, told me I could’ve moved up, and that I was lucky to have a decent pay with benefits. If you’ve worked in a hospital, it’s no walk in the park, and everyone else feels the same way. I noticed everyone around me was so unhappy, stressed, and under pressure 80% of the time. This job taught me that I needed to graduate college, do my own thing & get the f*** out of there!
Lashing started to become a thing in 2015. I started to get my lashes done and loved the experience. That’s when something clicked. I was going to take the a lash course, start my business from home and then see where it takes me.
I was working full time, then taking 1 or 2 clients before or after my shift & on days off. I did that for a few months and then decided to graduate college. So I was working part time, in school full time and still lashing a few clients. Once I graduated, I was working at a salon, I had just about enough of the hospital so I quit and decided to focus on lashing.
The beginning was tough. I worked at home and in a salon full time to get as much exposure as possible. After about 6 months I decided to work solely at home and focus on growing my clientele in my area.
That’s when I realized I was meant to open my own business, run things on my terms and grow the way I wanted too!
